A first win over hurdles for TETOUAN, who landed a nice touch in the process.

Always handy, he jumped well enough and quickened nicely to challenge between horses early in the straight and quite readily held off the challenge of the runner-up. It looks as though he might have a nice bit of improvement left in him and a trip to Galway beckons.

For the third straight time, Our Refusal filled the runner-up spot and once again appeared to do little wrong. He was the best jumper in the field, and having tracked the early leader until going to the front before the third-last, he continued to plug away well once headed by the winner.

Attitude doesn't appear to be the problem – the appearance that he doesn't possess a change of gear is not a help, but he's straightforward and jumps very well. There should be a race out there for him.

In the end, Cnoc Rua finished only marginally closer to the runner-up than he had last time at Ballinrobe, but it doesn't tell the entire story. He was far more competitive here and, having raced just off the pace for most of the journey, he made good ground to thrown down a challenge on the outside coming to the second-last, but was unable to sustain it.

Both Dunroe Lady and Perpetuum stayed on from some way off the strong pace to be never nearer than at the finish, while the big disappointment was favourite South Wing. He raced in mid-division for the most part but was struggling before the turn into the straight and eventually just kept on at one pace.

Of the stragglers, Dontloose Thefaith was found to be lame post-race, Commandment was reported to have burst a blood vessel and Hugbensin was pulled up having lost his action.
