HAKA DANCER didn't jump at all well but was content to track the leaders before moving up to challenge at the second last. He kept on well enough to score after getting to the front between the last two flights.
Favourite Silex suffered more than any other horse from the lack of pace. He was very keen and Denis O'Regan was anxious to find cover the whole way around. As the race progressed, his jumping got a little bit sloppier and he was unable to quicken from the second last.
Lady All Stars ran a fine race on paper but it's quite likely she was a bit flattered by her proximity to the first two. She set a very steady pace and had the run of it from the front before eventually keeping on at one pace once headed after the second last.
The stewards enquired into the poor performance of the Paul Gilligan-trained Capall Eile. The horse was examined by the Turf Club vet and found to be lame. Having considered the evidence and taken the horse's veterinary record into account, the horse was suspended for 60 days under Rule 87.[JOH]
