Keep´Nitreal chased leaders, 3rd halfway, ridden in 3rd before 2 out, soon no extra and kept on same pace

Scalini´s held up towards rear, headway to 5th after 3 out, ridden in 4th 2 out, kept on same pace

Ballito towards rear, ridden in moderate 7th before 2 out, kept on same pace

Cullys Wood soon mid-division, 7th halfway, 6th after 3 out, ridden before straight and no impression

Adropandabottle led, headed before 6th, led again after 7th, ridden and headed after 3 out, soon no extra and weakened before 2 out

Pottersway chased leaders, 4th halfway, dropped to 6th before 5 out, ridden in 7th 4 out, soon no extra and weakened

Feather My Nest soon chased leaders, led before 6th, headed after 7th, ridden in 2nd 4 out, soon weakened

Stadium Project towards rear, mistake 4th, unseated rider 5th

Ardagh Lord chased leaders, fell 2nd

Killiney Ranger towards rear, slipped and rider lost irons before 4th, pulled up

Mad For Action towards rear, carried out before 5th

Battle Axe pulled up injured before 1st

Gorthnacurra brought down 2nd

A race not short of incident, which began early when Battle Axe broke down before jumping the first fence. At the second fence Ardagh Lord fell, bringing down Gorthnacurra. Ardagh Lord broke a leg and was put down and that incident led to thefinal fence on both subsequent circuits being omitted.

The race went in the end to ARTIST'S RETURN. It was his first run in a handicap but he had run with credit at a good level in hunter-chase company and his ability to land this quite modest handicap wasn't really a surprise. Making headway on the final circuit, he came through to challenge at what turned out to be the final fence and battled on well once getting his head in front to prevail by half a length. He's for sale and wouldn't be a badbuy as a summer handicap chaser, he's genuine and rattles off fast ground.

Keep'Nitreal was prominent the whole way but could do no better than keep on at the one pace when the eventual first and second took over.

Scalini's looked a danger when closing on the heels of the leading group at the eventual second-last fence, but couldn't really go through with it in the straight, finishing clear of the never-dangerous Ballito. [JO'H]
