The way the race cut up it looked likely to be in favour of BALAKAN, and although he didn't win like the proverbial good thing he was never in danger. Leading quite early, he dominated from there and did enough to win. Despite drifting towards the stands' side around two out, he always have the impression that he could have pulled out a good bit more if he had to.

Walys Own travelled well throughout and looked briefly as though he was going to challenge at the second last when the winner ran around a bit. In the end, he wasn't good enough but ran a perfectly good race.

It would have been interesting to see what would have happened had Dalucci stayed in the race. He raced in second place and was travelling well a couple of lengths off the winner when unseating David Casey after a bad blunder three out. [JOH]
