Mutual Friend, a winner at Aintree last time but a horse who has not always put it all in, was always playing second fiddle to the winner in the closing stages and did not help his chances by going left under pressure after the last.
Benmore Boy, who had won a moderate race at Towcester last time, was hampered early here, but recovered quickly and his rider was happy to bide his time. He was produced on the outside in the straight and had every chance approaching the last, but Robert The Brave was quicker away from that flight and Benmore Boycould not sustain his challenge on the run-in.
Musselburgh bumper winner Still At Lunch set just a fair pace, but he was left behind by the principals in the straight. However, he should be all the better for this first run in six months.
