Wizard Of Us chased leaders, ridden to go 2nd after 3 out, stayed on to lead after last, drew clear, gamely
Film Festival took keen hold and soon prominent, led 3rd, 3 lengths clear but driven when dived at 2 out and mistake, soon headed under pressure flat, no extra
Portavadie behind, steady progress before 2 out, went 3rd at last and ran on, catching 2nd near finish but no chance with winner
Boss Imperial took keen hold, led until 3rd, under pressure 5th, lost 2nd after next, one pace from 2 out
Scutch Mill took keen hold early, towards rear, outpaced 4th, mistake 3 out, short lived effort before next
Croon close up, ridden when hit 3 out, weakened before next
Day To Remember chased leaders until driven and weakened 3 out
Phoenix Eye pulled hard in last pair, effort 3 out, ridden to chase leaders before next, soon weakened
Elaala never better than midfield, driven 3 out, soon beaten, eased last
L´Oudon pulled hard, close up when dived at 3rd, weakened before 3 out, tailed off and pulled up next
Mud Monkey ridden most of way, prominent but never going well, faded before 3 out, pulled up next
But the one horse he could not shake off was WIZARD OF US. Winner of a 1m4f race on theall-weather at Wolverhampton in January, Wizard Of Us had been slipping down the handicap recently, and the ease in the ground and fast pace brought the best out of him here.
Film Festival had shown the benefit of a recent wind operation with his convincing Sedgefield success, and he travelled well for a long way here. However, he got the second last flight wrong when being rousted to hold off the challenge of Wizard Of Us, and the loss of momentum there probably cost him the follow-up win.
Boss Imperial, possibly best when able to dictate, was unable to do so here but still ran a respectable race and he seems to be holding his form well.
