BRAVE JO cut out the pace, as he often does, but he rarely manages to sustain his effort and he was probably helped on this occasion by Thorsgill, who took up the running in the middle partof the race before giving way on the home turn. Brave Jo, as a result, had more in reserve for the final push and he battled all the way to the line to gain what is only his second win in 27 outings. The easing in the ground overnight also probably helped, Brave Jo's best form to this point having been shown on slow going.
Red Granite, who had looked booked for second until left clear three out at Southwell last time, was racing off a 7lb higher mark and found the task beyond him, though he did finish well clear of fifth-placed Little Shilling.
