As you would expect, plenty of them had a chance rounding the final bend but Jamie Goldstein always looked to be going well on LADINO, and the combination pressed on down the home straight to be comfortable winners. It proved that his effort last time after a 546-day layoff, when he started at 100-1, was no fluke and the handicapper was probably correct in raising him 8lb for that effort. In fact, that race has produced quite a few winners.
Cold Mountain, trying 3m for the first time, is nothing if not consistent and ran right up to scratch again. He has yet to win going left-handed and is still well above his highest-winning mark.
Glacial Sunset is fairly handicapped and looked all set to collect as they left the back straight. He could not sustain his effort all the way up the home straight but, once again, proved he is up to winning something similar.
Had he cleared the last, Rajayoga would surely have been involved in the finish. He was staying on well when coming to grief.
Brinkmanship made a highly respectable return to the track after a break and should be all the better for the run, while Rajam gradually weakened up the home straight after racing prominently throughout.
