NATIVE CITY, who was dropping in trip, shaped well after a layoff last time and travelled well for mostof this race. However, the runner-up looked to have his measure for much of the home straight before he eventually overhauled him after the last. He proved very resolute under pressure, after looking bored in front, and held the renewed challenge of the second.
Changing Lanes appears to have two ways of running and, with the cheekpieces and tongue-tie fitted, he very much had a going day. He travelled strongly and got to the lead up the home straight before only narrowly going down in a driving finish. Because he seems quite unpredictable, it is impossible to guess what he will do next time.
Dr Dream is very much a selling/claiming-grade performer and holds the form down a bit. He did not look very happy from an early stage, so it is testament to his up-and-coming jockey's ability that they kept on well enough for third.
Very little in behind got competitive. Kilmeena Magic kept on the best of the also rans but he is a long-standing maiden under both codes.
Genari flattered for a moment down the far side but never picked up, while Mattaking tried pointing his nose to the sky when asked to quicken. It did not look as though the cheekpieces had the desired effect.
Roznic, having his first start for Tim Vaughan, was not especially well handicapped over hurdles and was the first beaten.
