Rambling Light chased leader, ridden over 2f out, led just over 1f out, edged right inside final furlong, held on, all out
Guilded Warrior led, ridden over 2f out, headed just over 1f out, switched left inside final furlong, rallied gamely well inside final furlong, not quite get back up
Cape Of Luck chased leading trio, closed 4f out, driven 2f out, every chance inside final furlong, unable to quicken last 100yds
Buxton held up off the pace in midfield, headway over 3f out, ridden 2f out, chased leaders entering final furlong, one pace last 100yds
Red Somerset chased leading pair, ridden 3f out, weakened 2f out
Twilight Star steadied start and very slowly away, held up well behind, headway over 2f out, ridden and little response over 1f out
Hucking Heist steadied after start, behind, pushed along over 5f out, driven and headway 3f out, weakened 2f out, virtually pulled up final furlong
He ground out a narrow win, edging right to the stands rail and crossing frontrunner Guilded Warrior, although the stewards considered he was just clear of his rival, whose rider did not have to stop riding, although the horse switched himself out to gain clear running room, rallying to go down by a neck.
Guilded Warrior continues to run consistently at this level, and a bit of juice in the ground clearly helped after struggling more on faster ground.Buxton again hinted at an imminent return to the winner's enclosure, challenged widest out midtrack, but he was another whose run flattened out in the final furlong on this watered ground. He has only won on the all-weather.A gamble on Red Somerset never looked like being landed, and he was another whose best form is on a sounder surface.Hucking Heist was disappointing, wanting to hang left when making a brief effort early in the straight. He was eased when beaten on this first run of the season, 292 days after his only previous race and maiden win.
