Mr Hichens took keen hold, chased leaders, headway to lead over 1f out, soon ridden and hung right, not run on and headed inside final furlong
Stormbeam held up towards rear, headway over 1f out, hung right but stayed on final furlong, went 3rd last 100yds, not reach leaders
Desiderio led, hard pressed and ridden 2f out, headed over 1f out, hung left and weakened final furlong
Willkandoo chased leaders, ridden well over 2f out, unable to quicken 2f out, kept on same pace final furlong

Connections reported that he tends to hang right, so needs right-handed tracks and got a fine ride to hug the inside rail and be rewarded with the usual drift away from it in the finish.
Coole Dodger took full advantage of easing in the handicap but has struggled off higher.Mr Hichens burst to the front, looking all over the winner into the final furlong and stilldrew clear of the rest but had no answer to the winner's burst. Blinkers made him keen to post until he got cover with two others and he did nothing wrong in defeat and looks ready to strike.
Nothing else threatened and that frontrunning Desiderio held fourth says it all about the form, although he deserves mention as he prefers rattling fast ground so the watering did not aid his cause.
