Western Roots always prominent, led 5f out, shaken up over 1f out, idled slightly but always had enough in hand, pushed out

Follow The Colours held up towards rear, headway 4f out, ridden to chase winner from 3f out, soon hung right, kept on but always held

Wester Ross held up towards rear, nudged along 6f out, steady progress under pressure from over 2f out, went 3rd over 1f out, never threatened leaders

Master Mahogany held up and behind, ridden over 3f out, stayed on same pace final 2f out, went 4th inside final furlong, not reach leaders

Siena Star held up towards rear, ridden over 3f out, switched to centre over 2f out, stayed on, never troubled leaders

Muffett´s Dream prominent, ridden 4f out, kept on until faded inside final furlong

Balnagore chased leaders, ridden 4f out, weakened 2f out, eased when beaten

Analyis of the race

Another fine front-running effort from WESTERN ROOTS, who found extra for David Probert when hotly pressed by Follow The Colours from over 1f out.

According to Probert, the winner has a high cruising speed and is difficult to get past. He crossed the line with his ears pricked to score a shade cosily in the end. The gelding has been a revelation since being claimed at Musselburgh with seven successes.

Follow The Colours rarely runs two races alike, but did little wrong. He seems to be getting better from race to race on turf and it was encouraging that the principals were clear in the final 2f.

Master Mahogany stayed on from a long way back. He has a similar profile to Wester Ross in that he's been given a chance by the assessor.

Balnagore, subject of steady support on course, was in trouble turning in. Chased along 4f out, he failed to respond for a smack from his rider's whip and proved very disappointing.
