Enjoying a 7lb pull with Ordnance Row from his comeback run at this track, he readily turned the tables to tee himself up for another shot at Goodwood's Lennox Stakes, in which he finished second last year.
Ordnance Row once again proved his ability to handle quickening ground but looked to face a stiff task against the winner. In the circumstances, he ran as well as could be expected.
Banknote went within a whisker of reversing course and distance placings with Ordnance Row to indicate he can score in Listed company on similarly fast conditions.
Mount Hadley, whose training problems have restricted his movements in the past two seasons, was detached and giving his rider little help by hanging until making up late ground to finish a close-up last of the six runners.
His trainer has more than once resisted the temptation to run him on fast ground and will be keeping his fingers crossed the geldingcomes out of this okay.
