A tricky little handicap on paper fell to the ultra-consistent STEVIE THUNDER, who found conditions in his favour. A game horse, he had a battle on his hands when the runner-up got to his girths inside the last, but he stuck to his task in smashing style. He continues to defy the handicapper, though for how much longer is anyone's guess.

Topazes, back over 1m, was produced with a potential winning challenge inside the last, but although he responded to pressure, he was unable to overhaul the winner.Bowder Stone, back on easier ground, ran a solid race in third, while Reel Buddy Star, who continues to run well, will surely find a winning opportunity before too long. Resounding Glory gave a more encouraging showing on only his second start of the season. He is open to further improvement.
