Press The Button made all, steadied pace after 2f, shaken up and quickened well over 1f out, clear 1f out, pushed out
Flying Applause taken down early, slowly into stride, soon pushed up to chase winner, ridden over 2f out, outpaced by winner over 1f out, held on for 2nd final furlong
Aegean Prince steadied start, held up in rear, pulled hard and ridden over 1f out, disputed 2nd and edged right entering final furlong, no impression on winner
Shabahar steadied start, took keen hold, held up in last pair, not clear run over 2f out until over 1f out, soon ridden and no headway
Prime Number broke well but soon pushed along and lost place, headway on outer 4f out, chased leaders and driven 3f out, weakened over 1f out
Saviour Sand took keen hold, chased leading pair, ridden over 2f out, weakened over 1f out
Night Orbit raced in midfield, ridden 3f out, weakened 2f out
Flying Applause, up in trip, left his recent reappearance effort well behind in second, just holding on for that placing from top-weight Aegean Prince, who is hard to win with but made good late ground from the rear.
Shabahar was up 5lb for a recent course-and-distance win and they didn't go as quick this time. He was going well at the back of the field straightening for home, but he had to squeeze between rivals and did not find as much as looked likely. There remains a suggestion he is capable of better on this sort of ground off a fast pace.
Saviour Sand was keen in the headgear and didn't get home. The track and ground were very different for Newbury winner Night Orbit, who could never land a blow.
