The pace Icannshift set helped GRANARY GIRL, who was still near the back of the field on the inside rail starting the home turn. Eased to the outside rounding the turn, she made ground widest of all and came with a good run to lead at the furlong pole and come away. She had finished behind Astrolibra on her three most recent starts, but they were at 1m2f and she was stepped up in trip here on the recommendation of the trainer's son Simon Pearce, who had ridden her last time. She has a pretty good strike-rate for one of limited ability.
Astrolibra seemed to get the longer trip, but she was no match for her old rival.
Songmaster ran respectably, but he had his chance and is one of his stable's lesser lights.
Sand Repeal came wide into the straight and could make no headway.
Foreign King had the run of the race when winning at Brighton earlier in the week, but he could only chase the leader this time.
Mid Valley, second here last time, was keen in rear and was going nowhere from over a furlong out.
