Lithaam led until over 2f out, chased leader and hung right over 1f out, led final 100yds, ran on strongly and soon clear
Great Knight chased leaders, went 2nd over 2f out, led 2f out, driven and hung right entering final furlong, headed final 100yds, immediately beaten
Town And Gown slowly into stride, took keen hold, held up in touch, headway 2f out, not quicken over 1f out, plugged on to go 3rd inside final furlong
Miss Poppy soon bustled along and struggling to go pace, some headway and edging right over 2f out, never troubled leaders
Filemot prominent, led over 2f out until 2f out, soon weakened
In Toto slowly into stride, always well behind
Hucking Harmony went right start, soon pressing leader until over 2f out, soon weakened
LITHAAM had never finished closer than sixth in nine starts, but he broke well and showed speed near the favoured stands' rail before winning decisively in the end from areluctant-looking Great Knight, who was finishing second for the fourth time in five starts and looks one to be wary of - the second-time blinkers failed to do the trick, although a wide draw did not help. Connections of Lithaam must hope that the handicapper does not take the form too literally, because the runner-up has a mark of 72 and third-placed Town And Gown is rated 66.
Miss Poppy was below form in fourth, just ahead of Filemot, who showed speed and is qualified for a mark now.
