Ezdeyaad tracked leaders, challenged over 1f out, edged left and kept on same pace

Neon Blue chased leaders, weakened over 1f out

Viva Volta led until over 1f out, soon weakened

Trimlestown chased leaders, one pace final 2f

Royal Storm tracked leaders, lost place over 1f out

My Learned Friend mid-division on outer, weakened over 2f out, soon behind and eased

Thabaat chased leaders, lost place over 2f out, soon behind and eased, tailed off

A remarkable race in which SADEEK crossed the line with a narrow margin to spare over the second and third after his saddle slipped right round about 50 yards from the line. Quite how Royston Ffrench, who briefly had both legs on the same side of thehorse, managed to slip his right leg over his mount's back as he passed the post had to be seen to be believed. Fortunately, for all concerned, the weight-cloth never fell to the ground, otherwise Ffrench's heroics would have been in vain. A race, and a feat of horsemanship, which will live long into the memory.

The first three came clear of Ezdeyaad, who was unable to dictate this race like he'd done at Redcar. Viva Volta ran well for a long way as a trail-blazer, but My Learned Friend was disappointing.
