Highland Love pressed leader, hung right from 5f out, strongly ridden from over 2f out, led over 1f out, kept up to work throughout final furlong
Natural Rhythm raced keenly, led, ridden 2f out, headed over 1f out, kept on under pressure and continued to challenge throughout final furlong, held towards finish
Bigalo´s Magic tracked leaders, ridden 2f out, edged right from over 1f out, stayed on inside final furlong, not quite pace of front pair
Locum held up, ridden over 2f out, headway over 1f out, kept on inside final furlong without landing blow
Sabre Light midfield, effort and headway to chase leaders 2f out, no extra inside final furlong
The Last Bottle raced keenly, tracked leaders, ridden 3f out, weakened over 1f out
Always Certain held up, ridden over 4f out, no impression
Madame Rio slowly into stride, raced keenly, held up, effort 3f out, no impression on leaders, weakened well over 1f out
HIGHLAND LOVE had, conversely, run a shocker on his previous start at Doncaster, but there is a very good chance that he simply dislikes racing left-handed. That was certainly the impression here, as he lugged right for most of the journey, and it required a strong ride from Paul Mulrennan to keep him in contention. Returned to a left-handed venue, the winner could thrive, as he is still lightly raced and a tad green, so further progress is entirely possible.
Sabre Light, a ten-length Yarmouth seller winner, emptied disappointingly up the straight, but Always Certain, who had won here at the last meeting, was being niggled before halfway. The wake-up calls never looked like working, and the top weight ended up running a miserable race.
