ALGARADE certainly had, as she won readily on her reappearance at Great Leighs, and followed up with a victory that was full of authority. A big disappointment here on her final run of 2007, she was an altogether different proposition this time and, as a big, scopey sort, she will very likely continue to improve as the year goes on.
Prelude simply loves Chester and, while she was racing here over an inadequate distance, she still ran a cracker from the front. She should remain fairly treated after being reassessed for this honourable defeat, which will make her a popular choice when back here for a mission over her preferred 1m4f trip.
Storyland's winning run had come to an end earlier in the month at Salisbury, and she again failed to deliver again here. Ridden from off the pace, she did not pick up as perhaps looked likely, andthe handicapper may well now have her measure.
Calakanga found this much tougher than the Chepstow maiden she won last time out. A return to 1m4f could help her.
Princess Cocoa ran a rare disappointing race, while Casa Catalina confirmed the view that she was flattered to finish third in a good York handicap.
