Analyis of the race

TASHEBA and Askar Tau put 20 lengths between themselves and their rivals in the last two furlongs, which confirms that there was no strength in depth to the race and there was a lack of stayers.Tasheba, who had run well at Newbury on his last startwhen behind well-regarded Warringah, was one of the few to travel smoothly, tracking the two front-runners. He initially put his head back when shown the front around the home bend but, when challenged, battled on gamely and was always just holding sway.He set a new course record and looks well handicapped.

Askar Tau enjoyed the big step up from the 1m maidens he had been running in, and it brought about plenty of improvement. He has a favourable mark to exploit.

The keen-running Novestar held on to third on this step up in trip to confirm he remains in top form. He gives the front pair's form a solid enough look.

Colorado Springs was another to fail for stamina after going well enough inside the final three furlongs.Ultimate Quest seemed to find this handicap debut all too much, even though he was doubling the distance he had raced over before. He was slowly away and pushed along to recover and get a prominent pitch. He was again ridden along at halfway, and after having a chance into the home bend, got tired, suggesting his optimum trip could be somewhere in between this distance and 7f, although he is clearly not straightforward.

Tamrai Dancer was reported not to have faced the kickback.

Crimson Mitre was reported lame by the vet upon post-race examination.
