Tasdeer made all, ridden 2f out, staying on well when left well clear over 1f out, in no danger after
Gaspar Van Wittel chased leader, 1 1/2 lengths down and keeping on same pace when veered badly right over 1f out, hung left but kept on final furlong, no chance with winner final furlong
Dauberval held up in last pair, headway to chase leading pair 3f out, soon ridden and outpaced
Almajd held up in touch, shaken up 3f out, soon beaten
Dry Speedfit chased leaders, ridden over 3f out, soon outpaced and well beaten
Lightning Squall steadied start, held up in last, lost touch halfway
The non-performance of Almajd, who was patently unsuited by the track and surface, and the waywardness of Gaspar Van Wittel takes plenty away from the winning effort of Tasdeer.
TASDEER enjoyed both the track and an uncontested lead over this extra furlong. He found only subsequent Greenham winner Paco Boy too good for him in a Listed race on the all-weather in March and looks capable of going close again at that level.
Gaspar Van Wittel also has some strong form in the book, including a good all-weather run with Jersey Stakes second Il Warrd, but has not looked the easiest of rides. He was the only one able to keep tabs on the winner and was no more than a couple of lengths down when veering badly right over a furlong out. His rider wisely put down his whip and just nudged him out for a clear-cut second. He is clearly talented, but continues to shape just short of Listed class while his handicap mark does not give him many openings.
