He had been unsuited by both the quick ground and the track at Epsom last time before running on thorough beaten horses, but with conditions much more to his liking here he did the business. He was always in a handy position on the near rails and showed good battling qualities after taking it up two furlongs out. Connections are hoping he can add to his tally soon in this kind of company.
Rio Riva'a last win came in this race 12 months ago. He ran a solid race here off a 1lb lower mark, and although he was closing all the time in the closing stages, he never quite looked like getting to the winner.
Zero Tolerance was finishing well. This was another solid effort from him and he was undoubtedly suited by the softening ground.
Collateral Damage ran as well as could be expected in this company after he had been slowly into stride.
Benandonner had been going great guns earlier in the year. He could, however, be starting to pay for his consistency now, and had to race here off a mark 14 higher than his highest previous winning high.
Striving Storm was unable to maintain his challenge having raced prominently in the early exchanges.
Plum Pudding dropped away having raced up on the outside three furlongs out, while Scartozz was eased as if something was amiss.
