Flying Clarets led to 3f out, soon driven and rallied, led well inside final furlong, stayed on well
Sam´s Secret prominent, smooth headway over 2f out, led approaching final furlong, soon ridden, headed and no extra well inside final furlong
Magic Echo tracked winner, led 3f out to approaching final furlong, kept on same pace
Friends Hope prominent, effort over 2f out, weakened over 1f out
Spabreaksdotcom in touch until weakened from over 3f out, tailed off
Perhaps the winner should have won with a bit more to spare at the weights, but she was going away in the end and a longer trip does suit her better. She will now take her chance under a 5lb penalty in the John Smith's Cup at York.
Sam's Secret, a withdrawal at Carlisle 24 hours earlier because of unsuitable ground, came there cantering to lead about a furlong out and looking all over the winner, but she just couldn't hold the Flying Clarets' rally. She is consistent and this was some effort as she is officially rated 21lb behind the first home.
Friends Hope is a consistent individual and, worst in at the weights, was not disgraced.
