Analyis of the race

A race with a strong tradition and no reason to believe this select field will not uphold it, although subsequent Group-race success might not come the way of these for some time. Warringah, who had started this season running second to stablemate and subsequent Derby runner-up Tartan Bearer. made sure this was a stern test. He deserves plenty of credit for losing out narrowly as the quickening ground will not have suited this heavy-topped colt, who has had plenty of cut in the ground in his previous races. Racing into the wind was no help either as RESEPLENDENT LIGHT became the latest winner to benefit from getting cover before pouncing. As such Warringah, expected to emulate his relation Hi Calypso in winning this before moving onwards and upwards into Group wins, should not be discounted for better prizes this autumn, although it might be a November Handicap rather than a Group race. Unlike his victim, Resplendent Light thrives on fast ground which is why his trainer has been in no hurry withhim this year. He impressed in going through a narrow gap and had to scrap to hold off the favourite. He just missed out on the cut for the King George V handicap at Royal Ascot last week but on this showing can win a big handicap under similar conditions.

Killcara Boy took on the leader fully 4f out but paid for it as he had no more to give in the final 2f and a rating in the 80s looks to lock him up.

Seattle Storm ran too freely despite the strong pace and paid for it.
