Roly Boy tracked leading pair, effort to challenge well over 1f out, ridden to lead and edged right inside final furlong, held on
Celtic Spur slowly into stride, well behind, switched right just over 2f out, good headway over 1f out, pressed winner well inside final furlong, held last strides
Duke Of Aquitaine led, hard pressed over 2f out, ridden well over 1f out, headed inside final furlong, no extra last 100yds
Northumberland chased leader, every chance 2f out until over 1f out, outpaced final furlong
Fisher Hill awkward leaving stalls, took keen hold, soon in touch, ridden and effort 2f out, kept on same pace from over 1f out
Mister Dee Bee in touch in midfield, effort and ridden just over 2f out, soon weakened
Killmarnock soon pushed along in midfield, ridden and hanging right well over 2f out, never threatened leaders
Oil Man behind, soon pushed along, ran wide bend well over 4f out, never dangerous
Astroleo always behind, ridden over 3f out, never dangerous
Corredor Sun soon pushed along in midfield, struggling 3f out, well beaten after
My Kingdom went right start, took keen hold, soon chasing leaders, ridden and weakened over 2f out
Rockfella slowly into stride, always struggling in last
He was always holding on in the last strides though, and will probably be seen to better advantage back on turf. Richard Hannon junior sees the winner as an ideal type for nurseries, and reckons he will make a three-year-old too.
Celtic Spur seemed unfancied at 25-1, and he had a difficult draw to overcome. Dropped in towards the rear, he was still there starting up the straight and only began to make ground when switched to the inside where the courses intersect. He looked green, but stuck on well up the rail and made the winner work.
The first three were clear of Northumberland, who had his chance but may be easier to place now that the nursery season is imminent.
Fisher Hill, a Cozzene newcomer and one of the nicer types, made his effort up the middle of the track and was far from disgraced, finishing a long way clear of the weakening fellow debutant Mister Dee Bee. Both can do better.
