LOCHIEL has made giant strides this season and he produced a career-best performance here to come from last to first in the final four furlongs. This easier ground seemed to suit him and, although he looked to have something of a mind of his own in the preliminaries, he does precious little wrong in a race. There may be more to come from him.
Hits Only Vic, bidding for a four-timer, and carrying a 6lb penalty, went down fighting in second, while the unlucky horse of the race was Wind Star, who met trouble in running two furlongs out but who stayed on stoutly for pressure once he found daylight.
The first four finished clear of Clueless, who ran a blinder on his first run since changing stables. This ground would have been plenty soft enough for him and yet he was in there battling until weakening and being hampered inside the last; he is worth keeping on the right side, especially on a sounder surface.
Inspirina proved one-paced.
Sin City could never land a blow, while Harry The Hawk raced freely at the head of affairs and gave himself no chance of getting home.
