It produced a taking winner in COLOURWAYS, who had run green on her debut at Lingfield 20 days previously, but raced much more professionally this time and relished the step up to this stiffer test. A filly with plenty of scope, she looked better the further she went and impressed in putting the race to bed inside the final furlong. Her connections are very hopeful she will build on this, she did enough to suggest she really would be happier on an easier surface, and she looks likely to rate higher, so it will be interesting to see how the handicapper rates this display.
Solar Dance, third on debut at this venue 12 days previously, had to race ride from her outside draw for the first half of the contest and still looked inexperienced. She held every chance, getting the longer trip without much fuss, and simply met a stronger horse on the day. She ought not to be too long in opening her account.
Beauchamp Wonder was ridden patiently and then switched wide for her effort around two furlongs out. She never really looked like getting to the first three, but this was still another respectable effort on this turf debut and a drop back to 1m2f looks onthe cards.
Ethereal Flame, placed on her two previous outings this term, got an easy time up in front yet it was clear from three furlongs out she was a sitting duck for the principals. She plugged on, but this has to rate as somewhat disappointing.
