Piper´s Song tracked leading pair, effort well over 1f out, ridden and switched left inside final furlong, stayed on strongly to lead near finish
Princess Cocoa tracked leader, smooth headway to challenge 2f out, ridden and slight lead inside final furlong, headed and not quicken near finish
Mister Fizzbomb led, pushed along and quickened 3f out, ridden over 1f out, driven and headed inside final furlong, no extra towards finish
Riley Boys held up in touch, effort and headway over 2f out, soon ridden and no impression approaching final furlong
Del Mar Sunset dwelt, took keen hold and held up in rear, some headway 2f out, ridden and no impression approaching final furlong
PIPER'S SONG, who tracked the leaders, took time to find his stride but came home with a rattle to secure the honours near the finish. He looks in good order and can probably win again.
Princess Cocoa, who is nothing if not consistent, sat close on the pace and was arguably in the best position to go on and win once the race began in earnest. But, having looked the most likely winner over 1f out, she was worried out of it late on.
Riley Boys, bidding for his sixth course success, had little chance the way the race panned out, as he needs a strong gallop, as indeed does Del Mar Sunset, who was held up in last place and never held out much hope of getting into it once the final dash developed.
