Analyis of the race
A competitive handicap, though only two horses saw the front. Strike Up The Band tried to make all, but yards from the line he was caught by EVERYMANFORHIMSELF, who dug deep from over 1f out and ran on strongly to the line. Few could begrudge him this success after three creditable efforts in defeat this season. A smashing horse, big and very strong, he is open to further improvement.
Strike Up The Band made a spirited effort and showed such speed that he would surely not have been caught had he been racing on a slightly easier track. He is one to keep on the right side.
Namirdeserves credit for finishing so close after being drawn so wide, while Handsome Cross showed a lot of dash on his seasonal debut.
Fyodor never got in a blow but underlined his well-being by finishing on the heels of the principals after switching to the inner soon after the start.
Lord Of The Reins, who was well-drawn, never reached a challenging position.
