Cecina Marina tracked leader, effort to lead over 2f out, ridden well over 1f out, driven and headed just inside final furlong, weakened

Ellies Faith led, ridden along 3f out, headed over 2f out, driven and weakened over 1f out

St Johns Wood chased leaders, ridden along over 4f out and soon weakened

Fadansil in rear until some late headway

Cottam Grange prominent on inner, ridden along over 3f out and soon weakened

Welcome Cat always in rear

Indecision chased leaders, saddle slipped after 2f, soon lost place and tailed off from halfway

A moderate contest, by any standards.

BLACK FALCON, rated 59, had been running well enough over shorter trips to suggest he could make a bold bid, and indeed he did, relishing this longer distance and drop in class.

Elite Land, rated 50, isgame enough and a galloper. He kept going well for pressure throughout the last 3f, but the winner, racing wide of him, proved the stronger.

Cecina Marina looked a likely winner 2f out, but she failed to finish off her race as well as the principals. She may be worth a try over a shorter trip.
