Analyis of the race
A weak affair.
DANDYGREY RUSSETT had not run on the Flat for three years, but she had won a seller over hurdles recently to confirm her well-being and, allowed a soft lead here, she showed a good attitude in the straight to hold off hot-shot Drizzi.
Drizzi, having his first run since December, was produced to challenge turning for home and looked the likely winner at that point. But he found disappointingly little for pressure and Dandygrey Russett was always holding him on the run to the line. His record now reads five placings (and no wins) from six starts on the all-weather, but trainer Jim Best saw enough in him to step in with a successful claim.
