Cave Lion held up in 3rd, swift move on inner to lead 2f out, clear when hung left from over 1f out, eased near finish
Crystal Rock led, ridden and headed 2f out, no chance with winner after
Kingdom Of Fife held up in 5th, shaken up and outpaced over 2f out, hanging left but stayed on to take 3rd final furlong and close on runner-up near finish
Sterope tracked leader to over 2f out, soon outpaced and beaten
Road To Hucking took keen hold, held up in 4th, ridden over 2f out, soon outpaced
Bet Noir held up in rear, pushed along over 3f out, never reached leaders but stayed on final furlong
Island Treasure settled in 6th, ridden over 3f out, outpaced over 2f out, plugged on
Testimonial always in last trio, ridden and no response over 3f out
Wivny started slowly, held up in last trio, lost touch and nudged along over 3f out, never near leaders after, eased over 1f out
Alabjar always in rear, weakened 3f out, tailed off
As such the form should be treated with caution. Even so CAVE LION ran out a comprehensive winner despite wanting to hang badly left when let down to take the lead. He showed a fine turn of foot to settle this in a matter of strides and that should stand him in good stead when he goes handicapping.
That Crystal Rock held second does not say much for the rest. A non-stayer over 1m2f last time, he looks plenty high enough in the ratings off a mark of 80, although a more galloping track mightsee him in a better light.
Sterope was first to kick for home early in the straight, but this half-sister to Multidimensional was readily outpaced inside the last two furlongs.
Bet Noir shaped as if needing both a stronger pace and further as she was going nowhere two furlongs out, but was staying on late.
Testimonial and Wivny, both needing this run for a handicap mark, sat right at the back off the pace and were left flat-footed as the sprint kicked in. Wivny was staying on when her rider eased and looked down to accentuate her beating.
