There was strong support for LODI, who won a shade cosily, finishing well on top in the final 50 yards and full value for the margin, recording a noteworthy time on the night. Connections reported that the first use of a tongue-tie was the reason for both the confidence and refinding of his two-year-old form for former connections.
The winner had worked with older and higher-rated stablemate Glencalvie in the tongue-tie and impressed, and on this showing he is ahead of the handicapper.
Tadalavil was again found wanting fora finishing kick, while Sam's Cross, who did not go the early pace, was also stuck on the stands' rail line, which did not help.
The form is somewhat soured by Onceaponatime being reported to be lame by the vet on post-race examination to explain his thrashing.
