Wild Hawk soon tracked leaders in 5th, kept on without threatening under pressure from over 1f out

Lady Ruler mid-division, 7th approaching straight, ridden and kept on without threatening from over 1f out

Blue Boatman prominent, 4th for much, no impression under pressure and kept on same pace from over 1f out

Dactik slowly into stride, towards rear, no impression approaching straight, kept on without threatening from 2f out

Anam Cairde chased leaders, 6th for much, no impression under pressure when short of room under 1 1/2f out

Spider Luck led and disputed, 2nd into straight, soon no extra under pressure

Woodlark slowly into stride, towards rear, no impression under pressure from soon after halfway

High Water mid-division, moderate 8th approaching straight, soon no extra

Cape Spice dwelt, always towards rear

Hawk Junior mid-division best, 9th early, no extra approaching straight

MEDICIO certainly showed a nice bit of improvement from his Gowran debut and put in a professional performance. Held up early, he progressed into a challenging position over two furlongs out, and when asked to go and win his race he knuckled down andran all the way to the line. Even at this stage, he looks like a horse that would be well suited by another furlong.

The beautifully bred Tingling ran a fine race on her debut and should improve plenty. Always prominent, she moved through to dispute and eventually to lead turning into the straight. She ran on well once shaken up, and while she was beaten comfortably enough by the winner, she will come on. She should have little difficulty winning a maiden on this evidence.

Wild Hawk ran at least as well in defeat here as when he was runner-up at Limerick. He seemed to get a bit unbalanced and was changing his legs in the first half of the race. In the straight, he took time to get going but came home well without being dangerous.

Blue Boatman was ridden as though stamina wasn't really an issue. Always in a handy position, he was just outpaced in the straight once the race developed, keeping on at one pace.

Favourite, Woodlark, missed the break and was never involved even when he was asked to close.

Fellow newcomer Dactik was also slowly away and never involved, although he did keep on through beaten horses to finish sixth and wasn't disgraced. [JOH]
