Analyis of the race

A weak contest, even by selling race standards. LANDIKHAYA had been rated in the mid-70s when trained by Richard Hannon as a juvenile, but his form this season had been disappointing, resulting in a slippage in his mark to 56. However, the fitting ofcheekpieces did the trick for him here as he got off the mark at the 13th attempt.

Coral Shores, who won an all-weather claimer at this trip last February, was also taking a drop in class after being well beaten in a Southwell handicap last time, and she responded to a strong ride to gain her first placing since early in the year.

Balais Folly showed improved form in a first-time visor, but he still had his limitations well exposed at the business end.

Awesome Light was the top-rated horse in the field, but this was his turf debut, with his four previous runs having been on the all-weather, and he was never travelling.
