This looked an easy opportunity for JAZACOSTA, who had run second in a stronger looking race at Sandown last week, but he had to be kept up to his work to the line to see off some dogged, though probably moderate, rivals. Trainer Amanda Perrett's husband Mark reported that the winner is a lazy sort and was not doing a lot in front, and suggested that he might be better when he can get a lead.

Threestepstoheaven, well-beaten on his debut over 6f at Doncaster last month, took time to warm to histask here but was running on well at the finish, while still showing signs of greenness. He is evidently going the right way.

Supernoverre, never a factor on his recent debut over 6f at Newbury, shaped with more promise here.

Mannlichen, bred for middle-distances, gave the impressionhe will need some time before coming to hand, while Spring Secret raced too freely to halfway and fell away in the closing stages.
