Ursumman held up towards rear, improved into 5th 4 out, kept on without threatening from 2 out
Dom Fontenail held up, 6th halfway, under pressure from 5 out, 4th 2 out, kept on one pace from last
Davenport Democrat tracked leaders, 4th halfway, weakening from 5 out, no impression from 2 out
Coolgreaney settled 2nd, led briefly at 8th, headed next, pushed along and weakened from 4 out, soon no extra, eased from last, tailed off
John Cullen gave the winner a confident and enterprising ride, making almost every yard and quickening clear from before the third-last. It was a longish way out to go for his race, but it proved justified as nothing could make any impression, and his winning margin of 11 lengths could have been multiplied. He could well be seen on the Flat soon to try to take advantage of a rating of 55.
Paul Carberry on Wishwillow Lord seemed more than content to track the leading duo, and did try to cover the move Dbest made when he made a hash of the fourth-last. From there he could make no impression and just kept on well enough to win what was a decent battle for second spot.
Eye Candy had beaten the winner when they met over 2m here earlier in the month, but he proved very much the inferior of the two over this longer trip. Held up, he did get a bit closer after the fourth-last, from before the second-last he was only in a battle for second. It's worth pointing out that he would have had little chance at the weights off his old rating, and perhaps he was a bit flattered by his win here last time.
Dom Fontenail was a hard horse to assess coming into this. His best trip is probably a couple of furlongs in excess of this. He was never in with a shout, but kept on late to be never nearer. He had little chance at the weights so it can be considered a reasonable effort.
Coolgreaney took the winner on for most of the journey and headed him briefly around six from the finish, before she dropped out quickly after the next fence. Trainer Sean Treacy reported that she had a respiratory tract infection post race. (JOH)
