Blackhall Claw is the latest horse from the yard of Sean Treacy to show an upward turn in form after a good run on the Flat at Gowran recently. He seems to be at his best on this sort of surfaceanyway. Held up early, he made good progress to be on the heels of the leaders after the third-last and was the only one that could respond when the winner went for his race after two out. Like a few others from this yard, he may not be too long in winning.
Blayney James ran a huge race on his return from an absence of some 21 months. Held up out the back, he made significant progress over the last half-mile to chase the first two into the straight. He ran on quite well, but was never going to getto them, but this was a very encouraging effort indeed.
Tailor Bill possessed some pretty reasonable form in maiden hurdles going back a couple of years, and after a period on the sidelines, this probably represented his best effort to date in a handicap having been tried over a variety of trips. He travelled well in the leading group for most of the journey, and while he was found to be one paced when the race developed in earnest two out, he kept on quite well. [JOH]
