Clear Gold tracked leaders, 6th halfway, 5th 3 out, headway in 4th before 2 out where challenged and soon led, ridden and kept on well under pressure from last
Coolnaharan mid-division, headway into 5th halfway, 4th 3 out, improved to challenge 2 out, close 2nd and ridden last, kept on run-in, just held
Max Time held up towards rear, mid-division halfway, headway into 4th 5 out, ridden in 2nd approaching 2 out, no extra in 3rd before last, kept on one pace
Carna Bobby chased leader, led before 7th, ridden and headed 2 out where mistake, no extra and weakened
Bordante towards rear, late headway into moderate 7th before last, kept on one pace
Caher Lass chased leaders, 4th halfway, improved into 2nd before 4 out, ridden in 5th approaching 2 out, no extra and weakened
Scalini´s held up in rear, headway into moderate 6th 3 out, soon ridden and no impression
Lulumar soon led, headed before 7th, ridden and weakened approaching 4 out
Its Over chased leaders, lost place halfway, ridden in 7th 4 out, no extra and weakened
Accordion Roilelet chased leaders, 3rd halfway, 5th before 5 out where mistake, soon ridden and weakened, tailed off
Coolclogher mid-division, dropped to rear halfway, tailed off and pulled up after 4 out
Never far from the pace and jumping well, Ruby Walsh got a dream gap on the inside after the second-last and took full advantage, as the winner put his nose in front coming to the last and kept it there in the face of a sustained effort from the runner-up.
Coolnaharan didn't lose much caste in defeat, and he was beaten by very much an unknown quantity. The favourite travelled well throughout, coming to challenge at the second-last, but as the run of the race went it was Clear Gold that nosed in front of him at the last. He battled back well, butcouldn't get his head in front.
Carna Bobby set out in front and jumped well, staying there until he was headed, and weakened after the second-last.
Over an inadequate trip, Bordante didn't run badly at all. He was struggling to go with the pace on the first circuit and eventually stayed on at the one pace from before the second-last to be never nearer while never a factor.
