Noble Shift slowly into stride and behind, virtually pulled up 4f out, completely tailed off

A race that changed complexion late in the day, and STYLISH BID would have to have been considered an unlucky loser if she had failed to get up.

Held up in mid-division, the winner met plenty of trouble in running and was badly short of room whentrying to close around three furlongs out. When Pat Smullen extricated her and found racing room, his mount produced a generous response as she came right through inside the final furlong to take control of the race and win well.

Fabled ran a fair race in second and looks as though a similar handicap may be an attainable goal. Prominent most of the way, he just lost his place a little bit off the second-last bend, before staying on well inside the final furlong. He's another for whom a step up intrip shouldn't be difficult.

Arondo was keen for most of the journey, leading and disputing for much of the way before just being found to be one paced inside the last furlong. His early exertions probably didn't do him too many favours in the closing stages.

Favourite Saucy raced prominently enough, but she ran as though this track was on the sharp side for her. She lost her place and dropped back inside the last half-mile before running on under pressure inside the last furlong.

The Stewards enquired into an incident earlier in the race involving several of the runners including Arondo, and while they took no significant action, they did advise rider AP Thornton to ride with more care in future.
