Analyis of the race

SPORTING MEDIC got the better of Imco Tendence after a pulsating duel on the run-in. Having travelled in mid-division, Sporting Medic moved into contention after jumping the third-last hurdle. On approaching the last flight, the winner just had Imco Tendence to contend with and, despite jumping slightly the slower, Sporting Medic asserted narrowly on the run-in to land the honours.

Having finished second on the Flat at Gowran Park five days earlier, Imco Tendence was once again the runner-up here but he did nothing wrong in defeat and looks sure to win a maiden hurdle sooner rather than later.

Fifth-placed Silex, a former Listed winner on the Flat, wasn't helped by interference before turning into the straight, but nevertheless kept on close home.
