Analyis of the race
The pace was only steady in this modest handicap and not many were able to get into the action. LORD RYEFORD, who won over fences at Stratford off a mark nearly 2st higher two runs back, was beaten by Gallant Hero over this course and distance last time but found trouble in running that day and was able to compete off the same mark here, officially 9lb ahead of the handicapper. He won this decisively and there should be more to come from him if he remains over hurdles.
Dunlea Dancer had the tongue-tie reapplied on this second run for the Tinkler yard and showed much more than he had last time, but ran into a well-handicapped rival. He still looks held off this mark, though.
Nounou showed prominently for much of the way but eventually this longer trip told.
Gallant Hero escaped a penalty for his defeat of Lord Ryeford in a conditional jockeys' event here, but he could not reproduce that effort and is due to race off an 11lb higher mark in future.
