BOND CRUZ showed improved form when third in a decent non-handicap seller at Uttoxeter recently and got in here no less than 22lb ahead of the handicapper on official figures. Suited by the generous gallop and always travelling well, he found sufficient when let down to lead despite not doing a great deal in front. A quirky sort, he is on the upgrade but on this evidence will struggle from his new mark.
North Walk was well behind Bond Cruz in that Uttoxeter race but got closer here. He took up the running on the home turn and tried to get clear, but a mistake at the final flight sealed his fate. This was a decent effort at the weights.
Silvo, who was claimed out of the Milton Harris yard after finishing second at Cartmel, ran his race with no apparent excuses.
Bandits Pistol, equipped with a visor for the first time over hurdles, was not disgraced on this drop in grade.
