Bathwick Breeze led, ridden after 4th, headed after 3 out, beaten 2 out
Soliya held up, behind 4th, stayed on from approaching 2 out, jumped left last, took modest 4th flat
Brize Norton held up, soon in touch, weakened approaching 2 out
Nayodabayo chased leaders, went 2nd approaching 3rd, ridden after 3 out, weakened approaching 2 out
Bobsleigh held up in touch, lost place approaching 3rd, behind from 4th
Warpath chased leader until approaching 3rd, weakened approaching 3 out, tailed off
Beechwood held up, reminders after 3rd and after 4th, short-lived effort approaching 3 out, tailed off
Analyis of the race
This handicap hurdle afforded SPORAZENE to win over hurdles for the first time since he won the County Hurdle at Cheltenham over four years ago. He has had a somewhat chequered career over fences in the mean time but this win will have done his confidence no end of good. However, he only just scraped into this 0-135 contest and the handicapper is bound to raise him again significantly for this, so it will be a case of hard times again.
Cold Mountain probably wants the ground quicker than he had here and the handicapper needs to relent a little as well, which he is unlikely to do after this, even though he was beaten a long way.
Soliya is finding things difficult after rattling off multiple wins last summer and autumn.
