Thompsons Walls took keen hold, led to 3rd, lost place approaching 3 out, tailed off when pulled up before next
He was only a modest maiden on the Flat but he stayed 1m4f and his stamina stood him in good stead here - jumping has clearly been the making of him and he would have prospects of defying a penalty in similarly uncompetitive company this summer before the half-decent juveniles turn up.
Roman Legion was one of the better Flat racers in this line-up but he jumped less than fluently and lost touch with the principals from the top of the hill.
Hexham third Morestead was well held and is another who looks to have limitations.
Thompsons Walls raced keenly in the lead on his hurdling debut and may prove to have stamina limitations.
