Aphorism held up in rear, headway 5f out, effort over 2f out, hung left over 1f out, kept on to lead towards finish
Thewhirlingdervish tracked leaders, challenged 3f out, led over 1f out, crowded inside final furlong, headed towards finish
Go Amwell in rear, headway 3f out, edged left and stayed on approaching final furlong
Estate mid-division, effort 4f out, slightly hampered 2f out, one pace
Mister Arjay led until 10f out, led again 3f out until over 1f out, soon weakened
Keelung tracked leaders, took keen hold, led 10f out, soon clear, headed 3f out, weakened over 1f out
Rock ´N´ Roller held up in rear, headway 6f out, driven 4f out, weakened over 1f out, eased
Great As Gold in rear, driven 5f out, never on terms
Stolen Light chased leaders, lost place over 2f out, soon behind
Thewhirlingdervish, bidding to win the race for the fourth time, turned in a fine effort, but the winner just found another gear in the closing stages to snatch the prize from him.
Mister Arjay had been very disappointing at York last time, but he ran much better here, though he effectively set the race up for Aphorism and Thewhirlingdervish.
Rock 'N' Roller, up 4lb for his win here last time, ran well below his best.
*Paul Mulrennan reported that Keelung had run too freely.
