Billy Dane took keen hold, soon led, ridden along and headed over 2f out, remained close up, ridden and every chance when hampered inside final furlong and near finish, just held, finished 2nd, placed 1st

Scartozz always close up, ridden to lead over 2f out, driven and edged right inside final furlong, just held on finished 1st, placed 2nd

Just Bond tracked leaders, effort 2f out, soon ridden and every chance inside final furlong, driven and not quicken last 100yds

Webbow held up, smooth headway over 2f out, ridden over 1f out and every chance until edged left and one pace inside final furlong

First Buddy tracked leading pair, pushed along over 2f out, soon ridden and weakened well over 1f out

Only five runners but each had appeared to be primed for a good run - four of them produced it too in a close finish and this form should not be underestimated, though they did not go a great pace early on and the first two were always in those positions.

Scartozz passed the post first, having led over 2f out, but he edged right inside the final 1f and certainly caused some interference to the runner-up. The placings were reversed but this ex-Italian miler certainly looks up to winning off his current mark.

Victory was awarded to BILLY DANE who soon led, was headed over 2f out but still every chance inside last 1f only to be hampered by Scartozz. He went down by just a nose at the line and the margin was so tight that the interference had to be considered to have affected the result. Reverting to 1m looked to suit him.

First Buddy disappointed for the second race in a row and may have found the ground too firm.
