Analyis of the race

Several in-form contenders for this handicap but the result owed plenty to a shrewd piece of jockeyship by Robert Winston, who sent EZDEYAAD to the front and then pinched a six-length lead after a couple of furlongs, an advantage which was always going to be very difficult to peg back on the firm ground on this flat track. He was always in command thereafter and he is a lightly raced, progressive sort. He is going the right way but he had the run of the race.

Just Bond was the only other one to get into it, travelling well and moving into second place inside the final 1f, closing on the winner late on but never looking like reeling him in. His jockey was banned for riding an ill-judged race but in truth it was the entire field who allowed the winner an easy lead, not just him. Whatever the merits of the case, Just Bond had also run a good second at York on his previous start and is up to winning off his current mark.

Kaymich Perfecto remains out of form, while Bailieborough was again below his best. The ground may have been too firm for Gee Ceffyl Bach.
