Tavalu chased leaders until led over 2f out, ridden over 1f out, kept on and always doing enough final furlong
Medieval Maiden tracked leaders, switched off rail 3f out, ridden to chase leading pair well over 1f out, kept on to go 2nd near finish
Josh You Are held up in touch, chased winner over 2f out, ridden well over 1f out, unable to quicken under pressure final furlong, lost 2nd near finish
Wild Pitch awkward start and slowly away, held up behind, headway on inner 4f out, driven to chase leading trio over 1f out, no impression final furlong
Savannah held up in last trio, headway on outer over 3f out, no impression well over 1f out
Mandalay Prince held up in last pair, headway 5f out, driven over 2f out, weakened 2f out and soon well beaten
Plain Champagne led until over 2f out, soon ridden and dropped out
Ballad Maker chased leaders, ridden 4f out, soon weakened, eased from well over 1f out, tailed off
The winner has some decent form on the Flat in the context of this race and after a spell over jumps, where he recorded his sole career success to date before this (over fences), he handled the switch back to this discipline with aplomb.
Medieval Maiden has never won beyond 1m4f, but the way she finished her race suggests stamina is no issue and she is proving a consistent sort for her trainer.
The first three pulled clear Wild Pitch, who missed the break but made good headway up the inside, before not having the pace of the principles in the straight.
